Davy Crockett. “King of the wild frontier.” A man made of legend. It would be easy to fill pages upon pages of Davy’s adventures, but this blog isn’t about Crockett, well, not Davy Crockett.

A distant relative of Davy comes another great, Charley Crockett. Possibly more interesting than the Crockett’s who came before him combined. Charley is a country music singer, a REAL country music singer. Having been born in 1984 would technically make him a millennial, but everything about him says he’s from a different era. His music could be straight out of the 1950’s or even as far back as the 1800’s. Charlie puts a modern spin on an old saloon sound making him one of the most unique musicians in this day and age. Of course, that’s just my opinion. You won’t find him on any current country radio station (personally I think this makes him even better), they seem to have a way of missing true talent.

Besides the music, Charley sells… himself. He’s got the look of a saddle worn cowboy with the stories of one too. He spent most his life drifting around the country by train or bus, working odd jobs and playing guitar wherever he could. Charley was born in Texas but found himself in nearly every western town at some point in his life. His rambling man lifestyle got him to Paris for a time, then Spain, and eventually back to the states. He’s dropped several albums over the last few years with his most recent being “Welcome to Hard Times.”

I encourage you all to give Davys kinfolk a listen. The self-proclaimed “king of the wild blue frontier” is playing music the way I believe it should be played. No man tells him what to write, only the stories from his past do that. Read up on some of his adventures, listen to his music, and maybe then you’ll feel welcome to hard times.
